Our video, launching during Science Week: Castlecomer Discovery Park is proud to present ‘Creatures From The Past,’ a short 6-minute documentary available online about the incredible fossil finds made right here at Castlecomer, Kilkenny, in the 19th century. Just a few short years after Charles Darwin changed the world with his theory of evolution by natural selection, miners digging for coal discovered a treasure trove of fossil creatures from the Carboniferous era. The finding of these early four-legged animals helped to add evidence for Darwin’s controversial new ideas. In this short video, suitable for schools and the general public, and created t help celebrate Science Week we take you through the discovery of these animals and importance of their place in the history of science!
