Sheila Donegan

Director, Calmast

Sheila Donegan is a lecturer in Chemistry and Director of Calmast – the Science,  Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Outreach centre at Waterford IT and co-founder of Maths Week. She is very active in the promotion of STEM and holds many national positions in this area. In 2007 Sheila , along with her colleague Eoin Gill were awarded the EU Descartes award for Science Communication in 2007, the highest EU award in this area. Previous winners of this award were Bill Bryson and David Attenborough.

Eoin Gill

Coordinator, Maths Week Ireland

Eoin Gill is co-director of Calmast STEM Outreach Centre at Waterford Institute of Technology. He has been the coordinator of Maths Week since its foundation in 2006. He is a chartered engineer and a member of the European Maths Society’s committee for Raising Public Awareness of Maths.

Oonagh Trehin

STEM Public Engagement Coordinator

Oonagh is a registered associate nutritionist, with a background in public health. Having worked in health education and non-formal education settings, Oonagh has developed an interest in encouraging learning outside the classroom and at all ages. Oonagh is passionate about promoting STEM for all and teaching people that science isn’t scary.

Kayleigh Foran

STEM Public Engagement Coordinator

Kayleigh Foran joined the Calmast team as a student intern and now coordinates their diverse range of public engagement.

She is passionate about creating relevant conversations around Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and its wide-ranging impacts on our society. Kayleigh believes it is important for everyone to have the tools to discuss and critique STEM and its effects the world around us. She holds a B.A. in Communication Studies specialising with a MSc in Science and Health Communication from Dublin City University and a certificate in Project Management from National University of Ireland, Galway.

Enrica Amplo

STEM Public Engagement Coordinator

Enrica Amplo is a ‘digital culture 4all’ advocate with a startup-environment background and a strong ‘everything by design’ mindset. Enrica loves to create opportunities where technology, design, and education collide for a better future. She has partnered and collaborated with schools, universities, companies, museums, and non-profits.
Enrica founded La Tata Robotica in Italy a STEAM outreach edutech startup in 2015. She is passionate about engaging children and teachers in science, robotics, and coding.

Grace McGrath

Graphic Design Intern

Grace completed a BA in Graphic Design in WIT in 2021. She is passionate about creativity and is always coming up with new ideas. She believes that STEM should be engaging for everyone, and hopes to use her skills as a designer to make this happen. She is a lover of sleek, simple designs, with an emphasis on building brands and using design to tell stories.

George Stallard

Graphic Design Intern

George Stallard is graphic designer formerly from WIT’s Design & visual communications course. A lover of illustration and simple, functional design.
